Our Tango Connection

Natalia and Alberto Cortez are from a beautiful town called Mendoza in the N.W. of Argentina.

We embraced dancing tango in 1994 with Buenos Aires Tango School at the Centro Argentino of Victoria (Melbourne Australia ).
Soon we were performing with Buenos Aires Tango at many diverse community events and on Channel 31 ( Antena Hispana ).

In 1996 we created the group "Solo Tango" so we could take time to teach and diffuse the techniques of tango to the people of Melbourne.

We joined Back to Back International in 1998 as teachers with Fabio Robles and were part of the cast of the production, Ritmo Argentina.

After the honour of representing the Tango community by dancing at the Immigration Museum in August 2000, we were invited to teach at the first Winter Tango Festival in Brisbane in November and perform in Tango Night Brisbane, directed by Hugo Fernandez. The year culminated with a return to Argentina to further update and refresh our knowledge in traditional and modern Tango.

June 2001 Brisbane, Qld - Winter Tango Festival, where we participated and produced workshops and performed in Lennons Hotel.

July 2001 Byron Bay, NSW - conducting Salon Tango and Milonga Workshops.
Brisbane, Qld - participating in Master Classes for the Argentinian Tango Association of Brisbane
Brisbane, Qld - conducting Tango Canyengue workshop for Alma De Tango as well as taking master classes with Daniel Bissio.

August 2001 Adelaide, SA - Tribute to Carlos Gardel and Astor Piazzola performed at the Adelaide Festival Theatre with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Fabio Robles.

May 2002 Canberra, ACT - Tango, Milonga and Tango Fantasia workshops for the Tango Social Club in Canberra.

October 2002 Melbourne, Vic - Organiser of the first Australian Tango festival in Melbourne.

November 2002 Melbourne, Vic - Part of the cast of Senor Tango(One Night in Buenos Aires) at The National Theatre (Director Fabio Robles and Musical Director Norberto Vogel).
Melbourne, Vic - Exhibition opening "A Community of Communities" at Immigration Museum (Melbourne).

January 2003 Anglesea, Vic - Buenos Aires At the Beach , a weekend of worshops organized by Southern Cross Tango.

May 2003 Wellington, NZ - The New Zealand Tango Festival, organized by Tango Collectivo.

August 2003 Christchurch, NZ - Tango and Milonga Techniques. a week long workshop intensive , organized by Rima Herber.

September 2003 Adelaide, SA - Canyengue technique and Milonga workshops, for Southern Cross Tango.

October 2003 Melbourne, Vic - second annual Australian Tango Festival.

December 2003 Christchurch, NZ - Tango de salon , Cayengue and Milonga with traspie techniques.

January 2004 Anglesea, Vic - Buenos Aires at the Beach tango festival organized by Southern Cross Tango.

February 2004 Brisbane, Qld - Valentine's Weekend, Workshops in Milonga y Traspie, Canyengue and Tango de salon techniques.

From February 2004 until 2007

Natalia and Alberto have been travelling all around Australia , New Zealand and Argentina, promoting the argentinean Tango.
